Is there building staff to help set up?
No. The Junior League Sorosis Building does not have staff to help the user set up or breakdown the tables/chairs for an event. Users rely on family, friends, hired event planners, etc to set up and breakdown the tables/chairs and clean up. The user is given the key to the building upon check in. Time of check in depends on the rental duration. The user has full access to the building during the rental period defined on the contract.

How do I tour the building?
The JLGL administrative Assistant’s office hours are from 10am-1pm Monday through Thursday and is open for viewings during those hours.
If you are not available during those times, the rental manager has evening hours once per week and the day/time varies each week. Please complete the online inquiry form before contacting the rental manager directly at [email protected] to schedule an appointment.

How do I find out when the building is available?
The online calendar shows when the building is already in use. Refer to the calendar to see available dates. It is best to fill out the online inquiry form even if your dates are not currently available. There are cancellations which may not be updated on the calendar.

How do I secure my date?
Dates are secured with a $250 non-refundable deposit (paid towards the rental fee) and a signed contract. We can not hold dates with just an inquiry.

How do I show family and friends the building once I’ve signed a contract?
The rental manager dos not have regular office hours on site. The building is staffed by the Junior League of Greater Lakeland’s administrative assistant Monday through Thursday 10am until 1pm. Once per week on an as needed basis, the rental manager will hold evening office hours for building inquiries, etc.

The photos link on the site show multiple pictures of the interior of the building.

Why is event insurance required?
The Junior League of Greater Lakeland is a non-profit organization with a changing board of directors. Event insurance covers the user against liability claims from guests and provides an additional layer of protection for the volunteer JLGL board members. Prices of event insurance range depending on the number of guests, type of event and alcohol use. We refer users to www.theeventhelper.com or www.wedsafe.com but these are not required sites. The Junior League office must receive certificates 15 days prior to the date of the event. The insurance must cover the dates/times the renter possesses the key to the building. Insured must match the name of the person/entity who signs the contract. Insurance costs range from $95 to $195 generally.

What are preferred vendors?
Preferred vendors are vendors who have provided JLGL proof of business liability coverage and have named Junior League of Greater Lakeland as an additional insured for one year. These vendors have been pre-approved by JLGL and are recommended by Junior League of Greater Lakeland.

Am I required to use vendors from the preferred vendor list?
No. However, ALL vendors MUST provided proof of liability insurance and add JLGL as an additional insured. If you chose to use a vendor other than those pre-qualified, you will be responsible for making sure the vendors provides the required information. No vendors without insurance are allowed.

How do I close the street during my event?
City of Lakeland traffic department must be contacted to close the street. The fee is $30 paid to the City of Lakeland and a short application is required. The city drops off the barricades and the user is responsible for setting them up and taking them down.

What happens if I cancel my event?
You forfeit the non-refundable $250 deposit if your event is cancelled. Cancellations must be made in writing and can be an email to [email protected].

Can I change the date of my event?
If there is a change in the date of your event and the building is available, you may (depending on how close to the original rental date) move your event without losing your deposit. However, rates changes may apply and a new contract would have to be drawn.
